Nate is 5!!!

My baby boy turned 5 yesterday! I can't believe it!  I wanted to post yesterday but was too busy with all the fun birthday festivities.  We had lunch together at his school, had a party with his class, and left straight after school to watch the OKC Thunder play(Thanks again for the tickets Grandma and Grandpa)!  It was so much fun.  I love taking him to the games.  He yells and dances the entire time.  He was getting pretty upset though that the Thunder was losing almost the entire game.  He said if they lose this is going to be the worst birthday ever.  What a man!! He definitely gets that from his dad! Good thing they ended up coming back in the fourth quarter and winning or he would have been one angry five year old! Today he has his own basketball game and then we are going to eat at Sante Fe, his favorite restaurant.  He always orders steak with steak sauce.  I thought kids were supposed to like stuff like chicken strips and hamburgers.  Not this kid; he wants a fillet!!  Tomorrow we will end the festivities with his bowling party and watching the Super Bowl with the family.

Nate,

I can't believe you have been in my life for five whole years!  I remember the day you were born like it was yesterday.  I was scared to death but so excited to be your mommy.  You have brought me so much joy. It's the sweet little things you do that make me so happy.  Like when we jump on the trampoline and pretend like we are British bunnies (Brittany Bunny and Sonny Bunny)!  Or how we cuddle and watch movies while we drink hot coco and eat popcorn (a movie is not complete with out hot coco even in the middle of the summer).  Or how we dance in the living room to whatever crappy song is on the radio that I probably shouldn't even be letting you listen to. (You remember the words to every song!!)  My favorite is when you sing God Gave Me You by Blake Shelton because that's exactly how I feel about you.  I had always heard people say you don't really know what love is until you have a child and I know what that means now because of you.  I am so proud of the sweet, smart, kindhearted boy you are and am so excited to get to help you and watch you grow in to the amazing man I know you will be.  Happy Birthday sweet boy!

Love,
Mama
